Carl Lewis, the chief of CIA for Washington D.C. and since the arrest of Jack Foster also for New Jersey and New Jork D.C.,felt himself strange this morning.Like if he were dreaming. He made many mistakes in his professional life as one of the most powerful men in the CIA directorate. One of the mistakes concerned Jack Foster and James Towers, the double agents who sold themselves in their disservice to the Soviets. He could never forgive himself he never uncovered the real faces and deeds of the men but even worse, trusted them and supplied them with high security documents. When he got news Jack Foster was one of the creators of Strategy Beehive, the strategy which was supposed to initiate a chain reaction worldwide, starting with overnight overthrowing the legitimate government in New Zealand, changing the country into a communist one,and ending with the victory of the communist camp and supremacy of world order which would be known as Pax Sovietus - he thought he was getting heart attack. He was spared of that but the shock never left him for good, the more that there was yet another man,Patrick Waltersh, whom he trusted and who also was a traitor despite that he had a highest function within MI6 in the United Kingdom. Was this world not strange? Whom could he believe in the light of these revelations? The answer was one: he could believe absolutely no one.Yet,he was a human being as anyone else and he knew,he would get mad if he kept all the secrets entirely to himself. He had a need to share this and that.He could do nothing about it.Yet he felt himself sometimes dreary when he thought there might be some other traitors within CIA.He felt like that in this particular morning, while being seated on one of the highest floors of the CIA tower. He knew a lot about that man,Tadek Vangard, thanks to whom strategy Beehive got to their hands and felt ashamed for the treatment the man expierenced for years from the hands of CIA agents. He knew now there should have been a cooperation approach rather towards the man and not that of confrontation as was the case in fact. And,instead of bringing the man to his America he was sent by them to a country he never thought of going to.So many mistakes and so much to feel ashamed. He has already been thinking for some time about retiring.-Not yet!-He has always said to himself. The reason was simple: he has sworn to himself by all that one holds dear he will do everything possible to make sure no any other traitor will exist within CIA.Only then, when he will be sure his beloved intelligence agency will be free of traitors will he retire. He tried to clear up his mind.He expected his colleaugues within minutes and they could not see how distracted he felt.By the time they appeared in his monumental office he was all smile. He greeted with them heartily. One of them was David Harrows, the highest in rankings within CIA and the other one,Harold Montgomerry, the Californian CIA chief, based in San Francisco. At first they just chatted about everything and nothing. Also about women and,in fact,it was the primary theme which brought warmth and laugh into their conversation. Finally,Carl Lewis decided to go ahead with the theme number one for which he asked them to see him. -I think you already anticipate why have I invited both of you here? He began, feeling at the same time satisfied he behaved such a way as if not David Harrows but he,Carl Lewis, was the CIAs general director. -I think not just for some cups of coffee!- David Harrows riposted and bursted with laugh, content with his humour.Harold Montgomerry also began to laugh. This new dose of laughter removed whatever remaining obstacles to their longings of feeling themselves so much relaxed as if they just stayed within the walls of their family homes. In fact they knew themselves for such a long time they were more than just colleaugues to themselves. They could say they were real friends. -I think,my friends, the Soviet Union will collapse soon.- Carl Lewis began again.-The coup detat was unsuccessful as we all know, and I think,Mikhail Gorbatchov will also be gone soon.Luckilly, there is a new charismatic leader within the Soviet Union, who,I hope, will be skilfull enough to manage the collapse of the Soviet Union such a way there wont be yet another revolution in that strange nation of nations.Well have to appeal to the President he must press the Soviet leader,Mikhail Gorbatchov,or rather the president of the emerging Russian Federation I would say,Boris Jeltsin most predictably,to cause ceasing the existence of KGB.This is de facto a terrorist organisation, incompatible for whatever existence within the emerging states of the present Soviet Union.I feel and breath the fall of the Soviet Union. Our president must also press the leader of Russia to remove Andreyev Golubin from whatever positions not only within the still existing KGB but also within any other new intelligence agencies which might emerge in that country.Knowing the Russians, however,I dont expect theyll punish Andreyev Golubin in whatever form.He is simply too strong because he has more contacts than any of the present or future leaders of that country.Ive got an idea concerning Andreyev Golubin -Really?- Harold Montgomerry asked. -Really,really so!- Carl Lewis was satisfied to see both of his listeners were listening with uttermost curiosity.-We all know Steven Mac Dantosch is in the States and he wants to make a revenge on Harry Gullivers, the most honourable man America ever had.I know personally Harry Gullivers and am impressed by all the virtues he represents as a great patriot to this country, top class businessman and, perhaps,a future president of the United States of America. He knows more Congressmen, including Senators than any of those who are seated on the Capital -O.K.,Carl,hows that what youre saying about Harry Gullivers related to Andreyev Golubin?- David Harrows expressed his impatience. -Much and nothing is related in between both of them,David.I'm just getting to what I want to say: its about Tadek Vangard, the friend of Steven Mac Dantosch and the guy Andreyev Golubin hates as no one else with the exception of Carlos, the assassin. My plan is simple,we pass, via one of our dubble agents,a message to the Russians according to which Andreyev Golubin will know for sure Tadek Vangard is in New Zealand. The result will be such that Andreyev Golubin and perhaps Carlos as well well come over to New Zealand to assassinate that Polishman. But our agents will already be waiting there for them. Both,Andreyev Golubin and Carlos, will be assassinated instead. -Hmm,Im not sure its a good plan,Carl.- David Harrows grimaced.- This way, firstly, well break our promise to the man no one will know where he is actually and secondly,he might find himself in a deadly danger if,by some chance, our agents will fail either to arrest or better kill the two most hated guys.Thirdly,it is not sure at all whether Andreyev Golubin will go to New Zealand after the guy.The more likely scenario is he'll send there his guys. -Dont be afraid,David.Well send the best agents to New Zealand. -O.K.You can charge ahead but you take the responsibility solely on yourself in case if things will turn awry. -Sure,I take a sole responsibility on myself.-Carl Lewis smiled to both men. -Then do whatever you think must be done. But,for Gods sake, make sure our agents are there in New Zealand at the right time and in the right place.None of our men should die. -Thanks,David.- They still chatted a while and then said goodbye to each other.Carl Lewis was again alone in his monumental office on the forty fifth floor. He walked up to totally glassed wall and looked fearlessly onto the downtown traffic which from this perspective looked like a sort of kids' playground, not a real thing really. The cars were so smallThe people, naturally, even smaller. He felt good, almost like a god of Olimp. He returned to his desk, reached for his Cuban cigar and lighted it up.He enjoyed smoking the cigar when telephone rang.It was his friend,Harry Gullivers, who called to him. -Hi,Carl,how are you? -Fine,and you,Harry? I hope nothing bad happened. -Thats right,Carl. There is one thing: Id like to see you. -Come up here,Harry.Ive just got a bit of free time.Ill enjoy to see you.Its perhaps over a year we saw each other the last time.I wait for you. -Can I land my helicopter on the landing pad of the CIA tower? -Of course,Harry.Youre my best friend. -See you then,Carl, within a few minutes. -My pleasure.-Twenty minutes later Harry Gullivers appeared in his office. They greeted each other the way very good friends do it,patting themselves on their shouders and asking all sorts of questions of concern to both of them. They knew each other since the time they studied at the university of Baltimore in their youthful times.Since then they met once for a while and exchanged their stories of their successful professional lives. Now,they just lighted up cigars and chatted casually. -Harry,I heard you have a lot of connections in the Senate and House of Representatives,is that right? -Thats right,Carl.I dont like to witness how our politicians fool around.I like to pull strings. -I dont understand one thing,Harry. The people you have been seen the most time with, such ones as senators Jerry Bent and Benny Hanson or Congressmen Tony Barrington,Lessie Hesson and Barry Kentwick seek actively a so called decentralisation of the United States to the point that, according to them, the future United States should look as de facto fifty two independent states.I think it would be a disaster for the American folk. Harry Gullivers breathed inside himself large amounts of the cigar smoke. -Carl,fundamentally I dont object to what they propose. Why not a high degree of independence to every state within the United States. It would bring extra energy to the activities of our citizen. You have to know also,English is slowly becoming not the only major launguage of America.German,Italian and Spanish languages are expanding rapidly. The people using these languages will demand more rights for themselves sooner or later. You just cannot deny them their rights.I model future United States of America on what is happening in Europe where the European countries consolidate themselves in a highly efficient organisation. -Well,Harry,America is not Europe. -Nevertheless I stay with my views andmy vision. -We have a right to disagree and still be friends. -Absolutely,Carl. -Harry,I dont understand why Steven Mac Dantosch and de facto Mathew Burrows, the son of your Australian partner,Frank Burrows,is of opinion you are a mafia godfather and your people killed a boyfriend of his sister,Emanuelle Burrows?- Carl Lewis changed the theme of their conversation.Harry Gullivers bursted with laugh. -I also dont understand him.He is not only a murderer but also a very sick psychopath.A real sick one.And dangerous one.FBI must find him and he must end on the death raw,the sooner the better.Otherwise well hear about numerous murders in our beloved country which will be connected to him. -Harry,be careful,he is in the States. Harry Gullivers began to laugh again. -I know it.Im very careful,Carl. The guy has no chances of finding me.Idont understand one thing,Carl. The guy was seen numerous times in south East Asia and in China, together with one Polishman,Tadek Vangard and a Belgian girl,Melissa Charleroi.I heard they were persued by Soviet KGB and the mysterious terrorist whose pseudoname is Carlos -I cannot say everything to you Harry, the secrets of the agency you know, but I can say thats true. They were in a possession of a so called strategy Beehive which could change the face of the world. We have also been seeking them because of that strategy. -What then happened with those two other people, the Belgian one and the Polishman? Are they also in the States?- Harry Gullivers stopped breathing. It was possible he might get a crucial answer he was longing for. -No,Harry.Melissa Charleroi returned with her parents to her country and Tadek Vangard, the Polishman, was brought to New Zealand. We know hes got a happy life in Wellington, the capital of New Zealand. Harry Gullivers triumphed. He got all the news he wanted. In a matter of minutes he would leave this place. -Why was he brought to New Zealand and not to the United States? -You see,Harry,it was a strategic decision. The Soviets wanted revenge on him for passing the strategy into our hands. They, naturally, would seek him here in the States and they certainly do it.They want to kill him. There,in New Zealand ,he is much safer. -I see. -I have a new plan,Harry.I can tell you this.Ill let know the Soviets the guy is there,in New Zealand and Im sure both,Andreyev Golubin and Carlos will arrive in new Zealand to assassinate him. But,before they will manage to do it well catch them like fish.Im already in the process of dispatching some CIA agents to New Zealand.I have a dream,Harry.I want to catch that terrorist,Carlos, and want to be known in history as the one who managed to catch him. -I keep my fingers crossed you manage it,Carl. -Thanks,Harry.- Carl Lewis got off his desk and walked to the glassed wall.He looked a moment down to the Washington traffic. -You know,Harry,I feel myself like an eagle who can fly over the American dream with wide open wings. -Youre already now a hero,Carl.- Harry Gullivers answered. But the real answer was in his thoughts:Ill give you that occasion one day.Quite soon.Youll feel like an eagle and youll damn the moments of your life you dreamed of being an eagle. -Time to go,Carl.I cant use anymore your precious time.-They overlapped themselves and kissed in a friendly way.Harry Gullivers went up the stairs to the roof of the CIA tower.Moment later his helicopter was in the airspace of the capital which looked breathtakingly from the sky.He reached to his satellite phone and did not have to wait a long time before he heard the voice of Andreyev Golubin, still a chief of KGB. -Its me,Harry, here. How are you,Andreyev? -Awfull,Harry.Only to look and the existence of the Soviet Union will become history. The republics are pressing for the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The worst is that the Russian Federation,by far the largest among them, presses the most for it.A sheer madness! I cant stand it! Once they are done with the Soviet Union theyll come after my agency.Theyll demand dissolution of KGB.Can you believe it,Harry? They are madmen who dont know what they are doing. The two best pearls of our nation, both the Soviet Union and KGB,will be gone! -Im so sorry for you,Andreyev.Dont despair, good times will come again.Well,I have a golden news for you,Andreyev. -Whats that? -Imagine,I know where is that Polishman,Tadek Vangard -Every fool would know it. In the States, naturally. We seek him there. -No true,Andreyev. He is inNew Zealand! -Are you crazy! In New Zealand? No,I cant believe it! -Well,I got the news from Carl Lewis, the CIA director for Washington D.C.And I learnt even more. They want to let you know somehow where the guy is,being sure youll go after him and then theyll catch you and Carlos as well or at least your people. There was a tremendous laugh on the other side. -Oh,Harry,youre an absolutely goldman. Thanks to you,we not only catch the guy but also will burn the CIA agents to pieces.Re the guy,Ill torture him myself. This time it was Harry Gullivers who laughed. -Im not so sure whether youll be able to do it,Andreyev.Carlos has the same desire! -Doesnt matter. We do it both! The second call Harry Gullivers made was to the Congressman,Toni Barrington who was a member of his mafia network. -Hi Toni, how are you?- He asked. -As always,boss,stressed!- Was the answer of his man. -Toni,what is the actual mood in the Congress? Is there a necessity for my intervention? -Its difficult to say right now. There are many Congressmen who oppose us and are against further decentralisation of the United States. We passed over seventy two laws on behalf of decentralisation but any further moves in that direction are stalled. -Who is the biggest opponent? -Congressman John Hall from the Oklahoma D.C. -Well,well silence him!-Harry Gullivers already knew what he will do.He felt blood thirsty. -Toni? -Yes,boss -You have to prepare yourself for a possibility to run as a candidate for the president of the United States. -Oh,boss,it cant be! Everything but not this! I dont think Im one who can handle as complex matters as President of the United States must do. -Youre a fool,Toni. You will have me at your side! -Then,its another perspective! -Toni,how many members have our decentralisation group within Congress? -Forty four, boss. -Definitely not enough! You have to triple that number! Beacause only then well be able to pursue new laws on behalf of our decentralisation plans. -Im afraid, boss,it wont be easy.Congressmen are terrifyingly individualistic and independent. -Well,a bit of secret terror and theyll change their attitudes.Ill work on this too.Toni, and what is the situation in the Senate? -Its difficult to say.We need some our people also there. -Thats our next step,Toni. For the moment concentrate on the House of Representatives and prepare yourself for running as a candidate for the president of the United States. -Thanks,boss. While the helicopter was nearing his estate on the outskirts of Washington,Harry Gullivers had already a full image of the future United States and the entire world. He was nearer and nearer of his new world which slowly was transformed from the images within his mind to a full scalled reality. He knew this new world order of his own making will be known as Pax Gullivers. After the times of struggle between two world superpowers, for Pax Sovietus or Pax Americana and a brief period, surely,of Pax Americana, there will come time for Pax Gullivers. The ultimate of his visions will become a reality. His Pax Gullivers! | |||
