There in the battle of Monte Cassino
I died, I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken !

In a sea of blood
in the fires of Apocalypse.

All of Monte Cassino
soaked with crimson blood.

There in the battle of Monte Cassino
I died, I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken !

I could yet see 
as one of the soldiers
raised the Polish flag
over the ruins of the monastery.

My body, my soul
were like eagle ready to soar.

A moment later
also the British flag
was waving in the wind
over Monte Cassino!

There in the battle of Monte Cassino
I died, I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken !

I heard yet
a momentous 
St. Mary's trumpet call
performed 
by a Polish trumpeter.

With these sounds
my soul left my body
and with it
the eagle 
triumphantly soared 
into the sky.

There in the battle of Monte Cassino
I died, I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken !

With my soul 
I found myself in Heaven
with my body 
I remained on Monte Cassino.

Because in this grave 
at Monte Cassino
I rested forever!

Ah, Anne, my dear
I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken 
although I died 
I stayed with you
because uncharted
are the judgments of God.

Buried at Monte Cassino
never mind 
that many miles away
from you!

Our souls, Anne
are intertwined 
with each other
forever and ever!

In my grave on Monte Cassino
and in Heaven of Our Lord!

The eagles love
this place of eternal rest
on Monte Cassino.

They spend their time
listening to
the music of victory
from our grave, Anne
our shrine
the gateway to Heaven!

In the battle of Monte Cassino
I died, I, noble soldier
steadfast, unbroken !

But with you, Anne
I am immortal
and invincible
as you are, Anne!

Because our spirit
insurmountable, victorious
is heard in Heaven
As that St. Mary's trumpet call
on Monte Cassino!
