Magic West meets East
Troubled East meets West
What a drama was it
the latest two decades !

Drama or not, rather drama
everybody was optimistic
the great divide was gone
no more Iron Curtain

How enthusiastic were news
of the peaceful fall down
of the Soviet Union
the master behind the Cold War

Talks of War and Peace
and of Hate and Love
were substituted
with magic West meets East

The monumental conflict 
of former adversaries
seemed to have been solved
New countries joined the EU

Then came Kiev’s Maidan
Putin showed his true face
Crimea was annexed
war brought to the Ukrainian East

A new divide yet again
evolved between Russia
with its imperial lust
and the democratic West

All hopes for a new world order
fell in hope’s ashes 
There will always be those
who want unlimited reign

Shall war and peace
be contradictory features
as always so far?
Shall hate and love as well ?

What is the moral
out of all of this ?
Make sure desires of freedoms
are an unstoppable train
