' Sahara '
by Thaddeus Hutyra
Crowds of people but not a one soul
emptiness in the air to a deafening point
Enmity and indifference, spitting at each other
looking ominously at fellow beings
Ready to hit one, just anyone
and enjoy so called knockout
with this difference
that not on a boxing ring but just on a street
Devils disguised as angels
ready to take away last pieces
of the remaining humanity
Devils in disguise, indeed
and no humanity at all. Sahara, indeed !!
Everything's falling apart
in the whole world wide
ISIS insurgents murdering innocents
in their thousands a day
just because of different interpretations
of the centuries long schism
and their despise of liberty
Spreading like mushrooms after a rain
Al Qaeda, Al Shabab, Boko Haram, Talibans
Who isn't them can be murdered
like some animal or worse
Extremists getting to power
rejecting basic rights and human values
rejoicing in blood of innocents
rivers of blood
No humanity at all. Sahara, indeed !!
People in need are not seen
Those imprisoned unjustly
doomed to stay
in the darkest labyrinths of evil
shackled and chained
forgotten
Numerous tyrannies
busy to expand their monstrous systems
to such a point not only real prisons
but also the whole societies
and the whole nations
find themselves behind invisible prisons
the labyrinths with no exit
vicious and treasonable
Just look at what happens
in North Korea, Iran, Iraq
and far beyond
the expanding circles of tyrannic rule
No humanity at all. Sahara, indeed !!
And only one poet
at a deepness of a night
under the curtain of shining stars
is still dreaming of us all
as friendly people of goodwill
and amaranthine lovers
fitting so good to each other
no doubt being whole
Sipping angelic elixirs from each other
which make timeless
both their lives and their love
But when the poet looks closer
at what happens on the street
he just shivers over and over
cos there is no humanity at all
but serpents busy to poison each other
Soulless Sahara, a desert with no souls, indeed !!
