' In the Mojave desert '
by Rose Mary Mckenzie
In the Mojave desert, I was conceived
Mom was distressed about me
Dad not in our lives, word or deed
Clothing, feeding she could not see
Crying ,inside dying, what would life be
I was born, and life began
Life was a river, up stream I swam
Sometimes I was pounded on the rock
I lay wounded, bleeding, soul in shock
Growing up was painful and hard
Feeling less, sense of being marred
Days so lonely, night so darer
Oh, how I wanted to disappear
My one ray of sunshine
She was little, chubby, but divine
This lady, my Grandma, she was MINE..
Granny was my hero, time after time.
My life has not always been great
But good or bad, it's what you make
Love it, like it, it is your to take
Make friends with life for your sake
Happy now in the Autumn of my life
I have been a daughter, a sister, mother and wife
And...a Grandmother just the best
I can die happy, I have fulfilled my quest..
